• Hugh Pugh age 20 (rounding, so between 20 and 24). agricultural labourer with Evan Evans, a farmer at Llety tys, Brith Dir, Dolgellau
• Hugh Pugh living at Dolgelly St, Dinas. The address appears to be an inn run by a Rowland Rees, With Hugh Pugh and Jane Evans probably as servants. His sister Jane is living in Dinas when she marries Edward Evans in 1849

1851 census possibilities

• Hugh Pugh age 31 (born Dolgelly, circa 1820, so perhaps not him), farm labourer at Brithdir Isfa, Dolgellau, with wife Elizabeth 26, and daughter Jane 3.

1861 census possibilities

• Hugh Pugh age 40 (born Dolgelly, same man as in 1851 census) farm labourer at Brithdir Isfa, Dolgellau, with wife Elizabeth 36 (born Mallwyd), and children Howel, John, Margaret and Elizabeth

It has not been posible to follow him through the censuses. However this Hugh Pugh, was probably the labourer at Birthdir Isfa in 1841 and married Elizabeth (there is an Elizabeth Richard of the right age, a servant at the farm of another Hugh Pugh at Birthdir ) from Mallwyd circa 1847 (Jun 1847 Hugh Pugh to Elizabeth Richard Dolgelly 27 259 ). Their marriage certificate shows that he is not the right man, as his father is Howell Pugh on the 1847 marriage certificate.
