Morris Pugh b1835

1835 Dolgellau baptism records show a Morris Pugh baptised to Richard (labourer) Pugh and his wife Ann on 27 August 1835. This would seem to be the same Morris Pugh in the 1841 census below Both the age and the parents are correct.

1841 census gives a Morris Pugh living at Upper Mill Street, Garthgynfawr, Dolgellau with parents Richard and Ann Pugh

1851 census. The only obvious Morris Pugh of the right age is working as a groom at and place of birth given as Celynin, Merionethshire

Celynnin is in the parish centred on Llangelynin between Tywyn and Dolgellau in Merionethshire. Celynnin falls within the registration distict of Dolgellau"Celynin is in the Township of Bodgadfan, according to census entries of 1841 and 1851.

There are 2 Richard Pughs living in Llanegryn in 1841, but neither has a son Morris. So that still leaves open the possibility that this Morris came from the 1841 census for Richard & Ann in Dolgellau.

1853 "our" Evan Pugh marriage is witnessed by a "Morris Pugh", whom we would assume to be a relative of the groom.

After that I can find no mention of Morris Pugh in any of the 3 following censuses. Oddly there is a death in Dec 1900 of Maurice Robert Pugh aged 64 in Dolgelly Districe 11b 251. But no mention of him in any of the previous censuses.
