19 Penn St, Treharris, Glamorgan

Rees came to this area to work as a coal miner. He married in 1888, and their first children were born in Ffestiniog (slate mining) in Ivor in 1889 and Hugh 1890. The stay in the southern Welsh coal mining valleys did not last long. They are recorded here at 19 Penn St, Treharris in the 1891 census, and their next child Rees was born in Treharris, but by the time their next child was born, Jane, in 1894, they had returned to Ffestiniog. The story of Treharris Village and mine.

The houses in Penn St come in either 2 bed or 3 bed today. I suspect they were originally 3 bed and the some of the bedrooms have been converted to bathrooms or whatever over the years.
